INTRODUCTION
While there is a basic understanding that in order for one to be saved, one must be RELATED to God, there is CONFUSION as to how one can be related to God.
And, No, there are not many “buses” leading to heaven, because these religions not only present false teachings, they CONTRADICT one another. By DEFINITION, a TRUTH is never SELF-CONTRADICTORY. Today, we will be talking about how to be related to God

A. Committed Discipleship – v. 49
Someone who is TRULY RELATED to Christ bears the FRUIT of COMMITMENT. These disciples had given up everything to FOLLOW the Lord Jesus Christ. This is one of the evidences of GENUINE SALVATION.
B. Obedient Discipleship – v. 50
OBEDIENCE is one of the PROOFS of TRUE RELATEDNESS and GENUINE SALVATION. Emphasis here is not on MENTAL ASSENT but on PRACTICAL OBEDIENCE
CONCLUSION
Salvation, therefore, is not through the BLOOD LINE but through the SPIRITUAL LINE in Jesus Christ
