INTRODUCTION
A JUDGMENTAL ATTITUDE speaks of a DEEPER PROBLEM and that problem has to do with PRIDE and a SUPERIORITY COMPLEX. In our study, we saw that JUDGING itself is NOT a SIN for as long as it is a RIGHTEOUS JUDGMENT. Jesus Himself said
“Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.” ~ Jn 7:24
What Jesus is correcting here is UNRIGHTEOUS JUDGMENT which has as its primary motive the ELEVATION of ONE’s SELF! We already wrapped up our study with POINT #1, so we are now ready to go to POINTS #3 & 4
BODY SERMON
TEXT: Matthew 7: 1 – 5
III.JUDGMENTAL ATTITUDE and SPIRITUAL BLIND SPOT – vv.
3 – 5
1. Noticing others’ faults while leaving out self – v. 3
2. Critiquing others while leaving out self – v. 4
3. God’s Accurate Evaluation and Prescription – v. 5
One of the things that we will learn today aside from not having a JUDGMENTAL ATTITUDE and BLIND SPOTS is to learn how to help others in overcoming their own sins
CONCLUSION
The gracious and gentle touch is what the church needs. Like Nehemiah we have to be the “REPAIRER of WALLS” instead of being the “TERMINATOR”. God wants us to RESTORE PEOPLE and not DESTROY them
