INTRODUCTION

We live in a HURTING WORLD and in a HURTING CHURCH. No person can say that he or she has never been hurt. We’ve all been hurt in one form or another, but the most STINGING PAIN comes from an extreme form of JUDGMENTAL ATTITUDE which is often unjustified and cruel. This is what Jesus wanted to correct!

BODY SERMON

TEXT: Matthew 7: 1 – 5

There are three points to our study today:

I.WARNING AGAINST JUDGMENTAL ATTITUDE – v.1

II.GOD’S PARITY IN JUDGMENT – v.2

III.JUDGMENTAL ATTITUDE and SPIRITUAL BLIND SPOT – vv.3 – 5

1.Noticing others’ faults while leaving out self – v. 3

2.Critiquing others while leaving out self – v. 4

3.God’s Accurate Evaluation and Prescription – v. 5

The BROAD subject matter on this topic has led me to divide our study into two parts.

I will concentrate on our 1st point which is: WARNING AGAINST JUDGMENTAL ATTITUDE – v.1.

CONCLUSION

In summary, the Bible teaches not to JUDGE UNRIGHTEOUSLY but to JUDGE in a RIGHTEOUS MANNER. God is a God of parity and fairness and justice and this should cause us to model our judging according to God’s paradigm. When we do so, we will judge with a heart of compassion and justice and that is what God wants.
