INTRODUCTION
Last Sunday, we saw God’s ETERNALITY in contrast to MAN’S TEMPORALITY. The sad part with man is that oftentimes he does not have a PROPER PERSPECTIVE of the BREVITY of his life and as such teeters on the brink of ETERNAL DISASTER. James was SPOT ON when he said in James:
James 4:
13 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit.” 14 Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.
We are now ready to WRAP this sermon with our 3rd and FINAL POINT.
BODY SERMON
3. Man’s Proper Response and Man’s Petitions for His Short
Existence – vv. 12 – 17
DEATH and MISERY came upon us as a RESULT of the SIN of ADAM, whose SIN NATURE we have INHERITED so that our lives at its best is characterized as SHORT and beset with AFFLICTIONS.
CONCLUSION
Let me close with a PARABLE on Luke 12 : 16-21
And He told them a parable, saying, “The land of a rich man was very
productive. And he began reasoning to himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no place to store my crops?’ Then he said, ‘This is what I will do: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.
And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years to come; take your ease, eat, drink and be merry.” “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your soul is required of you; and now who will own what you have prepared?’
“So is the man who stores up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God”.
